All J.Heloise paintings start as hand-done, hand-painted watercolors (on watercolor paper). Only the best pieces are chosen to become prints.

Using digital techniques, the artist scans the work, edits via computer to make sure colors are precisely matched to the originals, then sends it to local printers who use large-scale machinery (printers) to print onto watercolor paper. An art print is NOT the original. It is a digital reproduction. At J.Heloise the Artist takes care to make sure the prints resemble the originals as closely as possible - so you have a piece truly worth saving.

It is strongly recommended to frame work using UV glass, to prolong the life of your piece.

*Note that the same process is used to create the Greeting Cards, except that the paper & printing presses are completely different. The greeting cards require scoring & folding on specialized machinery. While very high quality, they are not expected to last as long as prints.

Buying art is a very personal choice.  The good news is that you often “know” internally which piece you like, because you keep coming back to it.  It speaks to you.  If the work gives you a resounding “yes” when you look at it, it’s probably the right one!  Be sure to check the dimensions and make sure they work with the wall/room you have in mind, before ordering. 

We suggest not worrying too much about how to decorate with it, because, once the art is in your hands it usually becomes easier to decide where exactly to put it, & how to frame. We believe that one’s visual surroundings are a key part of their mind-space.  It can be deeply fulfilling to surround yourself with an art piece that makes you feel good; it can bring comfort, joy, ease..  We hope our pieces can do that for you.

No, J.Heloise does not donate artwork at this time. The reason for this is very straightforward— the work of creating the art is not paid for. It is financial expense taken on by the artist alone.. to keep surviving & creating in an increasingly expensive society. The USA does not provide direct full ongoing financial support to Artists for their living at all, at this time — nor do any related institutions/corporations. Therefore, there is no “extra” of either time or income with which to cover the expense of the donation. In other better-paid fields, pro-Bono work often makes sense, as it is made possible by financial surplus. The Artist is glad to have helped local community projects in VT and Adirondacks & is no longer open to inquiries for donated work.

The artist will happily discuss projects that do have budgets, & will try to find ways to work within them (even if limited), wherever possible, particularly for good causes. In the long run, as the company grows, J.Heloise is very committed to finding additional ways to give back to the local community & groups in need. We welcome new partnerships & look forward to collaborating.

No. According to US copyright law, all ownership defaults to the artist. You may not repurpose the art, nor copy, distribute, or reproduce it at all, nor any part of the website.
